What is Remote Desktop Protocol ?

 Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a proprietary protocol developed by Microsoft that provides a user with a graphical interface to connect to another computer over a network connection. The user can access the resources of the remote computer, such as files, applications, and network resources, as if they were logged in to the remote computer directly. RDP is commonly used by IT administrators to remotely manage and troubleshoot servers, workstations, and other network devices. It can also be used by individuals to remotely access their own computers or devices from other locations.

How to use RDP?

    Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a Windows feature that allows you to remotely connect to and control another computer. To use RDP:
  1. On the computer that you want to remotely control (the host), open the Start menu and search for "Remote Desktop Connection".
  2. Open the Remote Desktop Connection application.
  3. In the "Computer" field, enter the IP address or hostname of the host computer.
  4. Click "Connect".
  5. If prompted, enter the username and password for the host computer.


Once connected, you will see the desktop of the host computer and will be able to control it as if you were sitting in front of it. To disconnect from the host, simply close the Remote Desktop Connection window.

Note: The host computer must have RDP enabled in order for you to connect to it.

Use Remote Desktop to connect to the PC you set up:



To use Remote Desktop to connect to a PC, you will need to have Remote Desktop enabled on the PC you want to connect to and have the IP address or hostname of the PC.

Here are the steps to connect to a PC using Remote Desktop:

  1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection app. You can search for it in the start menu or find it in the list of installed apps.
  2. In the Remote Desktop Connection app, enter the IP address or hostname of the PC you want to connect to in the "Computer" field.

Note: If you are unable to connect to the PC, you may need to check that Remote Desktop is enabled on the PC and that the firewall is not blocking the connection
